The movie “Water for Elephants,” starring Robert Pattison and Reese Witherspoon, opens in theaters over spring break. Did you know it’s based on a novel?  We have the book “Water for Elephants,” by Sara Gruen, in the library.

Jacob Jankowski, an elderly man living his last days in a nursing home, recalls his time as a young man with a traveling circus during the Depression.  Because he was a veterinary student, Jacob is assigned to tend to the neglected circus animals.  Drama quickly unfolds as Jacob falls in love with Marlena, the animal trainer’s wife.
